D2 Place recognized as the “Best Hong Kong Property Brand”

D2 Place won the “Best Hong Kong Property Brand Award” in the SCMP Enterprising Hong Kong Brand Award 2016.

Organized by SCMP and supported by HKTDC, Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Hong Kong Design Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and other industry partners, the awards were judged by South China Morning Post editorial team together with a group of reputable Marketing, Communications and Policy Professionals from both government and private sector in Hong Kong. The panel reviewed and scored brand case studies which have achieved their business objectives and demonstrated the authenticity of building and managing a homegrown brand.

A total of 32 finalists were selected including LINK REIT, HKTV Mall, 3 Hong Kong, Octopus, Tsui Wah and Sky100. D2 Place won one of the 8 prestigious awards as the winner in the Property category.

LAWSGROUP’s Marketing Director Leslie Fok received the award on behalf of the company at the award ceremony held in JW Marriott hotel on July 7, 2016. On stage, Fok expressed gratitude to the Group’s Deputy Chairman & CEO Bosco Law for his vision, trust and support. He also appreciated the dedication and hard work by the entire Property Marketing and Leasing Team.

The Cultural & Creative Landmark

“We love challenges and being the first to do something different”, says Leslie Fok, Marketing Director of LAWSGROUP. With this mindset, LAWSGROUP has created the first Revitalized Shopping Mall in Hong Kong – D2 Place. Unlike any other cookie-cutter malls with chain stores and mainly serve tourists, D2 Place serves as a platform for creative individuals and young entrepreneurs in showcasing their talent and developing their business.

The mall features a total of 20,000 sq.ft. of outdoor and indoor event spaces, where over 250 creative events were organized since its opening in late 2013. It is also the first shopping mall in Hong Kong with different themed “Weekend Markets” organized on every Saturday and Sunday, 52 weeks a year. Every weekend hundred of artists and designers gather together at D2 Place, selling their original design and creative products. The markets attract more than 14,000 footfalls every weekend and are becoming a cultural movement in the city, whilst many other shopping malls are following the trend.

Beside Weekend Markets, D2 Place launched a “Pop-up Store” Campaign to support local brands and start-ups with flexible terms and furniture supplies. “Since the launch we received more than 30 enquiries every week. People love the campaign as shop owners could always test their products and interact directly with customers for feedback. While on the other hand, shoppers love going to the mall as there are always something new to see”, Fok says. “Many of our Pop-up Store owners request for a permanent space after operating for a few weeks. It shows they are doing good business here”.

As in line with the vision of LAWSGROUP’s Deputy Chairman & CEO Bosco Law to support local cultural and creative industries, D2 Place is in active collaborations with different local and overseas creative parties in the realm of Art, Music, Movie, Fashion, Fitness, and Culinary. “We just organized a 5-week rooftop screening event with Le French May. Starting from June, we will be launching a series of cultural events till end of the year. Apart from Cooking Workshops and Movie Screenings, there will be Craft Workshops on every Wednesday; Music Workshops on every Thursday; and Fitness Training by Adidas Training Academy on every Friday. We are the only shopping mall in Hong Kong working with them.”

While many may think D2 Place the brand comes from its proximity to the Exit D2 of Lai Chi Kok MTR Station, it actually means “Designers’ Dreams”. D2 Place fully supports and houses Fashion Farm Foundation, an NGO focuses on nurturing local fashion designers. In September 2016, the mall will be working with HKTDC and Hong Kong Polytechnic University in organizing a Fashion Market, as part of the “Hong Kong In Fashion” Campaign.
According to Fok, the upcoming Summer is packed with new activities. “This Summer we are working with MOOV and several local artists for a series of live busking performances. A Summer Bubble Party will be held on our Rooftop Garden in July and August. And last but not least, our mall will be expanded and D2 Place TWO is opening by Q4 this year.”
